Jefferson County Links It has been an exceptionally busy year for the Three Rivers Architectural Committee. Members of the committee have attended many meetings of both the Jefferson County Planning Commission and the Jefferson County Commission. The reason for this is that Jefferson County was in the process of repealing and adopting a new ordinance replacing the 1981 Comprehensive Plan and Comprehensive Plan map, repealing and adopting a new ordinance replacing the 2003 Zoning Ordinance and 2000 Subdivision Ordinance, amending the Comprehensive Plan to adopt new language related to destination resorts and a Destination Resort Map of Eligible Lands, and amended the Zoning Ordinance to add a new section 430 - Destination Resorts. Three Rivers had its own “wish list” of things that we wanted included in the amended zone. We attended hearings, gave testimony and wrote letters expressing our desires to both the Planning Commission and the County Commissioners. For the most part, we were successful in getting our desired changes included in the new Zoning Ordinance. The most significant change was the change in setbacks back to 15 feet. The Ordinance was adopted on December 27, 2006. This decision may be appealed to the Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) not later than 21 days from the date the decision was mailed, which was 12/29/06. To this date, we have received copies of four notices of intent to appeal. We don't know what the appeals concern or how long this next process will take. So, for the time being, the new zone is in effect for Three Rivers. If any of the appeals are upheld, it may change again. COMPREHENSIVE PLAN & ZONING ORDINANCE Adopted
